Nine ACC Volleyball Players Earn AVCA All-America Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Florida State senior middle blocker Brianna Barry, the 2009 Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year, was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America second team, announced today by the AVCA, and headlines a list of nine ACC volleyball student-athletes who were named All-America. The All-America awards will be presented on Friday, December 18, during the semifinal and final rounds of the 2009 NCAA Volleyball Championship in Tampa, Fla. Barry, a native of Winter Springs, Fla., was the only student-athlete from the ACC to garner first, second, or third-team honors in 2009. Barry was joined by teammate Jordana Price, a senior middle blocker, as an Honorable Mention pick. Freshman middle blocker Sandra Adeleye--the 2009 East Region Freshman of the Year--and senior setter Kelsey Murphy were named Honorable Mention for Clemson. Duke sophomore setter Kellie Catanach and senior outside hitter Rachael Moss, Georgia Tech freshman outside hitter Monique Mead--the 2009 ACC Freshman of the Year--and junior setter Mary Ashley Tippins, and Miami sophomore outside hitter Lane Carico were also tabbed Honorable Mention All-America.
