Three ACC Teams Make NCAA Volleyball Championship Field

    GREENSBORO, N.C. - Three teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference have been selected into the 2008 NCAA Volleyball Championship as announced on Sunday night. League co-champions North Carolina and Duke will travel while Clemson will host the first and second rounds at Jerevy Gym on Friday and Saturday. The Tar Heels will travel to Washington, D.C. and the Blue Devils will travel cross-country to Los Angeles, Calif.

    Automatic qualifier North Carolina (21-10) will open against host American (24-8) on Friday night. The winner in the opening round will face either Delaware (19-15) or No. 11 seed Oregon (23-8). ACC Co-Champion Duke (24-8) will face San Francisco (22-7) on Thursday night in the opening round of the tournament. The other half of the Los Angeles, Calif., bracket features at-large selections LSU (18-9) and host UCLA (20-10). Both pods feed into the Austin Regional, hosted by the University of Texas.

    Clemson was selected as one of 16 campus host sites for the first and second rounds. It will be an all-orange battle on Friday as Clemson will open up the tournament against Tennessee. Also playing in Clemson will be Utah and Furman. The winner of the Clemson pod will move on to compete in the Seattle Regional hosted by the University of Washington.
