Stepanova, Yaz, and Faust Earn Weekly ACC Volleyball Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Clemson junior outside hitter Serenat Yaz and Florida State senior outside hitter Jekaterina Stepanova have been named ACC Volleyball Co-Players of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. Clemson freshman outside hitter Kristin Faust was named the Freshman of the Week. It is the first weekly award for all three student-athletes.
Yaz recorded a career-high 23 kills against No. 21 Florida State in just four sets on Friday and hit .367, and added another 20 against No. 22 Miami in Clemson’s upset of the Hurricanes. She also had 12 and 13 digs respectively, giving her 13 double-doubles this season. For the weekend, the Istanbul, Turkey, native averaged 4.78 kills and 2.78 digs per set, and hit .324 from the outside.
Stepanova led the Seminoles in kills and hitting percentage over the weekend to help Florida State clinch its third ACC Championship. In the 3-1 win over Clemson, she hit .514 with 20 kills and one error, recording her second-highest percentage of the season. She chipped in with 12 digs for her 13th double-double of the season as well. In the four-set victory over Georgia Tech, the Riga, Latvia, native hit .410 with only two errors and connected on the last of her 18 kills on match point to clinch the conference title.
Faust hit .400 on 25 swings in the two matches against No. 21 Florida State and No. 22 Miami, hitting almost exclusively out of the back row. The native of Orlando, Fla., also registered double-figure digs in both matches, including 15 in a five-set win over the Hurricanes.
