Duke's Hausfeld and Georgia Tech's Stegemann Earn ACC Weekly Honors
Nov. 20, 2007 GREENSBORO, N.C. - Duke's Ali Hausfeld and Georgia Tech's Ulrike Stegemann earned Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Volleyball Player of the week, announced Tuesday by the league, for their performances last week in wins for each team. In two games last week, Hausfeld led the Blue Devils to wins over North Carolina and NC State, while Stegemann led her team to a pair of triumphs against Miami and Florida State. Against North Carolina last Friday, Hausfeld recorded six kills in eight attempts, good for a hitting percentage of .750, and racked up 40 assists in three games. Then on Saturday, she tallied 50 assists against NC State as the Blue Devils notched their 22nd win of the season over the Wolfpack. For the week, the Springboro, Ohio, senior averaged 15.00 assists per game to go along with 1.50 kills per game and 2.33 digs per game. Stegemann, a senior outside hitter from Schwerin, Germany, piled up 12 kills in 22 attempts for a hitting percentage of .455 in a 3-1 defeat of Miami on Friday. Against the Seminoles on Saturday, she added 16 kills, with a hitting percentage of .441, and four blocks as the Yellow Jackets again prevailed 3-1. Her averages in the two wins were 3.50 kills per game with a .446 hitting percentage, 1.88 digs per game and 0.75 blocks per game. In the final week of the regular season, Hausfeld and Stegemann will again lead their teams into two conference matches apiece. Hausfeld and the Blue Devils will end their regular season at Virginia and at Virginia Tech on Wednesday and Friday, respectively. Stegemann and the Yellow Jackets will round out their season slate with a match at Boston College on Wednesday and at Maryland on Friday.
