Mead and Campbell Earn ACC Weekly Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) –Georgia Tech senior rightside hitter Monique Mead and Duke freshman middle blocker Elizabeth Campbell have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball Players of the Week, announced by the conference on Monday.
Mead led the Yellow Jackets to a pair of wins over No. 22 North Carolina (3-2) and NC State (3-1) over the weekend. After dropping matches against both teams earlier this season, the Newnan, Ga., native recorded double-doubles and led all players with 17 and 20 kills in both matches, respectively. She has 10 double-doubles on the season. For the weekend, Mead averaged 4.11 kills per set, 2.44 digs per set and 0.478 blocks per set. Against NC State, Mead became the all-time leader in career kills at Georgia Tech with 1,872, topping Lynnette Moster’s 1,859 (2001-04).
Campbell had a strong weekend for the Blue Devils against No. 13 Florida State and Miami, hitting over .300 on 86 attempts. Thursday against the Seminoles, she led all players with 11 kills to go along with eight digs, two blocks and an ace. Saturday, Campbell finished the night with a career and match-high 25 kills while adding 10 digs, four blocks and three aces in her fourth career double-double. It marked Campbell’s fifth straight match with double-digit kills and third double-double in the past four matches. The Parker, Colo., native hit .333 against Miami on 57 attempts. She totaled six kills apiece in the second, third and fourth sets while adding five in the fifth, and amassed 11 consecutive kills without an error beginning midway through the fourth set.
