Clemson freshman middle blocker Sandra Adeleye and Duke senior outside hitter Rachael Moss were selected Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball Co-Players of the Week, announced today. Adeleye is just the second freshman to earn the award this season, while the honor is Moss’ second of 2009.

Adeleye had 13 kills against only two errors in 21 attacks for a .524 hitting percentage in a 3-0 sweep at Maryland (Nov. 6). She also added six blocks, including two solo rejections, against the Terrapins. The Katy, Texas native followed that performance two days later by smashing a season-high 23 kills in 39 attacks with only one error, a .562 hitting percentage, and recorded five blocks as the Tigers earned their 20th win of the season, a 3-1 win over Boston College (Nov. 8).

Adeleye has led Clemson in kills in each match during its five-match winning streak, four wins of which have come away from Jervey Gymnasium. She currently ranks third in the league with a .398 hitting percentage and fourth with 1.16 blocks per set, both of which rank second among freshmen.

Rachel MossMoss totaled 33 kills, a .301 hitting percentage, five service aces, and 18 digs over the November 6-8 weekend. Despite battling No. 16 Florida State (American Volleyball Coaches Association) to a 3-2 loss (Nov. 6), Moss put down 22 kills, had two service aces, and dug 10 Seminole attacks for her team-leading ninth double-double of the season. The Cypress, Calif. native hit .357 with 11 kills and only one error in 28 attacks in the Blue Devils’ 3-0 win over Miami (Nov. 8). She also recorded three service aces and eight digs.

With her 33 kills and five service aces, Moss reached the 1,600-kill and 160-ace marks, becoming the fourth player in school history to reach each of those milestones. Moss also was recently selected as an College Sports Information Directors of America/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III student-athlete, as she carries a 3.94 grade-point-average in political science.
