GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia sophomore outside hitter Simone Asque was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, announced Monday, after she had career-highs in kills in back-to-back matches—both wins—against Maryland (Oct. 23) and Boston College (Oct. 24).

In the Cavaliers 3-0 sweep of Maryland, Asque landed a match-high and personal-best 21 kills and hit .306, and added seven digs, once block, and one service ace. Her career-high 21 kills lasted just one day, as she bested that mark with 27 smashes in a 3-2 victory over Boston College. Against the Eagles, Asque also contributed a season-high 16 digs for her eighth career double-double and fourth of this season.

Over the weekend, the Chicago, Ill. native totaled 48 kills in 124 total attacks with just 14 errors for a .274 hitting percentage, and registered 23 digs, two service aces, one block, and one assist. Asque ranks third in the conference with 3.60 kills per set, and has led Virginia in kills in each of the last 11 matches, including nine in which she has tallied at least 10.

The Cavaliers will return to action on Friday, October 30 when they take on No. 17 Florida State at Memorial Gymnasium in Charlottesville, Va. at 7 p.m., and will host Miami on Sunday, November 1 at 12 p.m.

The ACC Volleyball Player of the Week will be announced by 5:00 p.m. each Monday during the season. More ACC volleyball information can be accessed at http://www.theacc.com/sports/w-volley/acc-w-volley-body.html.
