GREENSBORO, N.C. - Sarah Kirkwood, a senior from Tampa, Fla., was selected today as the Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball Player of the Week after leading her team to wins over league opponents Boston College and Maryland last week.

In the two games, Kirkwood registered a combined total of 46 kills on just 76 attempts, good for a hitting percentage of .539. Against Boston College on Friday, the outside hitter slammed 21 kills with just three errors to go along with two assists, five service aces and 12 digs as the Cavaliers took the match three games to one. In a three to zero sweep of Maryland on Saturday, Kirkwood was no less impressive, tallying 25 kills with only two errors for a .575 hitting percentage, a service ace and seven digs.

With her weekend performance in the books, Kirkwood now ranks second in the conference in kills per game (4.82), fifth in service aces (0.53) and first in points per game (5.53).

This week, Kirkwood and the Cavaliers face three tough conference tests. Tonight at 7:00 p.m., they will take on Virginia Tech in Blacksburg. This weekend they will host NC State on Friday, and then North Carolina on Sunday.
