GREENSBORO, N.C. - Maryland's Beth Gillming was today chosen as Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, becoming the first Terrapin to take home the honor this year.

Over the weekend Gillming, an outside hitter for the 10-4 Terrapins, had two very strong performances as her team took down league foes North Carolina and NC State. The Cincinnati, Ohio, senior registered 30 combined kills in the two matches with an overall hitting percentage of .338. She added 33 digs in the two contests, including 24 against the Tar Heels on Friday. Gillming's averages in the two matches were 3.75 kills per game and 4.125 digs per game.

For the season, Gillming now leads her team in five statistical categories, including kills (176), kills per game (3.14), attacks (440), digs (214) and digs per game (3.82).

This week the Terrapins (10-4, 2-3) hit the road to face nearby ACC rivals Virginia Tech and Virginia. The Virginia Tech match is slated to begin at 7:00 pm on Friday and the Virginia game will open at 5:00 pm on Saturday.
