Duke's Robertson, Clemson's Simmons Earn Weekly ACC Volleyball Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Duke junior middle blocker Amanda Robertson posted a double-double in the Blue Devils' conference opener and has been honored as this week's Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball Player of the Week. Clemson right side hitter Moneshia Simmons set a career high in kills and has been tabbed the league's Freshman of the Week.
Robertson, a native of Roxboro, N.C., registered a .591 hitting percentage, committing only two attack errors, as Duke swept Wake Forest in straight sets to gain its first league victory of the season. She tallied 15 kills and 12 digs in the match, earning her second career double-double.
The junior led the Blue Devils with four block assists and also notched a service ace. In the second set of the match, Robertson went 8-for-9 with no attack errors for a .889 clip. She has hit over .400 in three of her last four matches and ranks second on the team with a .349.
Simmons, a freshman from Buford, Ga., led all players in the Clemson Classic with a .442 hitting percentage and four service aces as the Tigers finished 3-0 and earned their first conference victory of the season. She averaged two kills and two digs per set over three matches.
In Clemson's 3-2 victory against league foe Georgia Tech, Simmons had a key kill in the fifth set to pull Clemson within one point of clinching the decisive set. Simmons posted a .562 attack percentage and a career-best 10 kills in Clemson's 3-0 sweep of Georgia State on Saturday, adding eight digs and four block assists.
