Georgia Tech's Brittany Roderick is Named ACC Volleyball Player of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Georgia Tech senior middle blocker Brittany Roderick has been selected as this week's Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week after helping the Yellow Jackets to a 3-0 record and the tournament championship at the Georgia Tech Courtyard Classic on September 11-12. Roderick was named the tournament's most valuable player. Roderick becomes the second Yellow Jacket to be named Player of the Week after freshman outside hitter Monique Mead earned the honor on August 31. The Orlando, Fla., native helped Georgia Tech get off on the right foot in ACC play with a 3-2 win (25-21, 23-25, 25-16, 15-25, 15-8) against rival Clemson on Friday night. In that match she recorded a career-high 15 kills. On Saturday, Roderick helped the Yellow Jackets to 3-1 wins against Southeast Missouri State (26-24, 22-25, 25-13, 25-20) and Ole Miss (23-25, 30-28, 25-18, 25-15). Roderick totaled 33 kills and a .429 hitting percentage over the weekend, and added four assists, one service ace, seven digs, and 10 total blocks. She is second among Yellow Jackets with a .310 hitting percentage and is ranked fourth with 66 kills and 17 blocks. Georgia Tech is currently riding a four-match winning streak, is 7-2 overall, and is out to an early lead in the conference standings. The ACC Volleyball Player of the Week will be announced by 5:00 p.m. each Monday during the season.
