Carolina To Open ACC Schedule Friday At NC State

The North Carolina volleyball team is ready to open the ACC portion of its schedule on Friday when it travels east to take on the NC State Wolfpack in a match scheduled for 7 p.m. Carolina posted a 4-5 record in three opening tournaments, claiming the Buffalo Classic held Aug. 24-25. NC State enters with a record 3-7 in non-conference play. The match can be seen on ACC Select.

Carolina is 66-27 all-time against NC State, the most wins for the Tar Heels against any opponent in school history. The Tar Heels have won 16 consecutive matches against NC State losing just nine games out of 63 during the stretch.

A Year Ago
Carolina opened the 2006 ACC season at home against the Wolfpack as well posting a 3-0 sweep in front of 1,184 fans in Carmichael Auditorium with scores of 30-22, 30-27 and 30-15. The Tar Heels picked up a sweep later in the year at NC State in dominating fashion with a 30-21, 30-16, and 30-18 win.

Last Time On The Floor
The Tar Heels were forced to a fifth game by American in the final match of the Carolina Classic before Carolina claimed the 3-2 win. Sophomore Christine Vaughen picked up 21 kills from her middle hitter position for Carolina. The Tar Heels went 2-1 in the tournament beating American (3-2) and Villanova (3-2), while dropping the middle match to Western Kentucky (3-1), the eventual tournament champion.
