Volleyball Falls To Northern Illinois

STORRS, Conn. - After losing a thrilling five game match to Connecticut last night, the Eagles tried to bounce back against another Huskies team but unfortunately, fell to the Northern Illinois Huskies 3-0.

 

Wake Forest Volleyball Suffers Pair of Defeats to Dayton and No. 22 LSU

DAYTON, Ohio - The Wake Forest volleyball team finished a challenging weekend at the Marriott Flyer Invitational with a pair of three-game losses to Dayton and No. 22 LSU. Dayton defeated Wake Forest 30-14, 30-23, 30-23, while LSU downed the Demon Deacons 30-19, 30-18, 30-17.


 

UVa Volleyball Concludes Tourney With 3-0 Win Over Marquette

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Virginia volleyball team wrapped up play in the Michigan/Pepsi Challenge Saturday (Sept. 9) with a 3-0 (30-25, 30-26, 31-29) victory over Marquette at Cliff Keen Arena. With the win, the Cavaliers capture second place in the tourney with a 2-1 record and improve to 7-2 on the season. Marquette drops to 3-6 on the season and finishes third in the tournament with a 1-2 record.


 

Carolina Rallies To Beat Wichita State In Five

CHAPEL HILL --- North Carolina got a career-high 25 kills from Noelle Dyk and career-high dig efforts from four players, including all-tournament performer Brianna Eskola as the Tar Heels rallied from a 2-0 deficit to knock off Wichita State, 22-30, 24-30, 31-29, 30-28, 17-15, Saturday night in the Carolina Volleyball Classic at Carmichael Auditorium. The win snapped a seven-match losing streak, the team's longest since 1990. Earlier in the day, UNC (2-7) lost to the College of Charleston in four, 27-30, 30-25, 30-25, 30-21.


 

Tech sweeps Hokie Invite to claim tournament title

BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Virginia Tech volleyball team picked up the Hokie Fall Invitational championship title with a close 3-2 (28-30, 30-28, 33-35, 30-21, 15-10) win over Appalachian State Saturday evening. Freshman Taylor Parrish earned MVP honors for the second time this season after knocking down a team-high 48 kills in the three matches. Junior Amanda Cloyd and freshman Michelle Lang were named to the All-Tournament Team.


 

Wolfpack Volleyball Falls to Murray State, 3-0

KENT, Ohio - The NC State volleyball team fell to Murray State, 3-0, on Saturday, Sept. 9, in its second match at the Kent State University Invitational in Kent, Ohio. The Pack lost the first game (30-28), before falling in the second (30-23) and the third (30-17). Jessica Williams led the red and white with 10 digs, three service aces and eight kills. With the loss, NC State falls to 2-6 on the season, while Murray State improves to 4-1.


 

FSU Volleyball Team Fights Back To Defeat South Carolina, 3-2

COLUMBIA, S.C. - After two tough losses to open the Gamecock Invitational, the Florida State volleyball team could have folded up the tents against the tournament host. Instead, the Seminoles showed the fight that was missing on Friday as they beat South Carolina 3-2 (30-28, 21-30, 30-17, 28-30, 15-13) on Saturday (Sept. 9) at UCS's Volleyball Competition Facility.


 

Boston College Volleyball Defeats Quinnipiac

STORRS, Conn. - The Boston College Volleyball team earned its first win of the season, beating Quinnipiac University 3-0 in their final match of the University of Connecticut Volleyball Classic.

 


Wildcats Stop Tech's Winning Streak at Five, 3-1, at Kentucky Volleyball Classic

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Queen Nzenwa and Nicole Britenriker had 16 kills each to lead Kentucky (7-1) past Georgia Tech (5-2), 3-1 (28-30, 30-21, 38-36, 30-27), on Saturday at the Kentucky Volleyball Classic. Junior Lindsey Gray (14 kills, 14 digs) and sophomore Allie Niekamp (10 kills, 55 assists) each had double-doubles for the Yellow Jackets.

Maryland Volleyball Tops Stony Brook

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland women's volleyball team outlasted Stony Brook Saturday night in a close five-game match, defeating the Seawolves, 3-2 (30-25, 30-24, 30-32, 22-30, 15-13), at the Hilton Inn Express Invitational at Stony Brook. Junior Jade Brown dominated for the Terps, as she had 20 kills on 42 swings (.429) and 14 digs, and Maryland improved its record to 5-1 overall. With the loss, the Seawolves are now 5-6.

 

Volleyball Slips Against Kent State, 3-0

KENT, Ohio - The NC State volleyball team fell to Kent State, 3-0, on Saturday, Sept. 9, in its final match at the Kent State University Invitational in Kent, Ohio. The Pack lost the first game (30-28), before dropping the second (34-32) and third (30-18) frames. Chrissy Zirpolo put in 11 kills and 10 digs, while Jessica Williams contributed 12 kills, eight digs and two total blocks. Aiwane Iboaya posted a .312 hitting percentage as three different players added service aces to the Pack's cause. With the loss, NC State falls to 2-7 on the season, while Kent State moves to 3-5.
