Senior Karla Johnson will lead the Hurricanes during the 2005 season

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - The University of Miami women's volleyball team will report to campus on Wednesday, August 10th for their first practice of the 2005 season.

 

Head coach Nicole Lantagne Welch returns eight letterwinners, including four starters, from last season's squad that posted a 17-9 overall record. The Hurricanes finished second in the final Atlantic Coast Conference standings after posting an 11-5 mark in their inaugural season in the league.

 

Miami will be led by senior outside hitter Karla Johnson, junior setter Jill Robinson and redshirt-junior middle blocker Frannie Savage. UM also welcomes newcomers Bridget Bomhack, Angelica Ellis, Lindsay Fletcher and Lauren Rinderknecht to the 2005 squad.

 

The Hurricanes will open the season with their Alumni Game on Saturday, August 27th at the Knight Sports Complex before they travel to the Houston Tournament, September 2-3, where they will face Arkansas State, Mississippi and Houston.
