DURHAM, N.C. - Duke volleyball coach Jolene Nagel announced the hiring of Judy Culhane as the second assistant volleyball coach on Monday.

"We are thrilled to have Judy join our staff," said Nagel. "Her academic and athletic experience at a quality institution will blend well with our team. Her professional playing experience is something that our players can draw knowledge regarding volleyball after college."

Culhane comes to Duke after playing professionally in Europe during the past year. A 2000 graduate of Colgate University, Culhane was selected to the 10-member Patriot League All-Decade Volleyball team.

As a senior captain at Colgate, Culhane earned the Patriot League's Offensive Player of the Year, Tournament MVP and Patriot League Volleyball Scholar Athlete awards. She was a three-time All-Patriot League First-Team selection and was Colgate's offensive MVP three times.

"I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to work at a prestigious university like Duke and I hope to contribute to the outstanding volleyball program," said Culhane. "I look forward to learning a lot under the guidance of Coach Nagel. I aim to help take the volleyball team back to the NCAA with an ACC Championship."
