Duke Volleyball Adds Shull To Class Of 2004

DURHAM, N.C. - Duke volleyball head coach Jolene Nagel has announced the final addition to the incoming class of 2004 as Jenny Shull has made a commitment to play volleyball and continue her education at Duke University.

Shull is a 5-5 defensive specialist and libero from Downey, Calif., where she attended Warren High School and lettered in volleyball in each of her four seasons. She joins Shelley Capito, Carrie DeMange and Ali Hausfeld to complete the class of 2004.

"Jenny is a talented and exciting defensive specialist and libero who we are delighted to have join our program," Nagel said. "Her gutsy and savvy ways will enhance both our offensive and defensive play. She will be someone who will provide a spark whenever she is on the court."

Shull was honored by the San Gabriel Valley League each of her four years at WHS, earning second team honors as a sophomore, first team honors as a freshman and senior and was the league's MVP her junior season. She was also named second team all Southern Section CIF and was a member of the Long Beach Press Telegram's Dream Team following her junior and senior campaigns. She also led her high school team in kills and digs each of her four years and played softball for three years, as well.

She played club volleyball most recently for Golden West Volleyball Club where the team took third place at the SoCal Qualifier and fourth at the Far Western Qualifier. As a member of the Nova Volleyball Club in 2003, she earned Libero of the Week honors from Prepvolleyball.com.

Jennifer Lindsay Shull was born August 19, 1986, in Downey, Calif., and her parents are Jim and Carla Shull. She has an older brother, Jimmy, who is a pitcher at Cal Poly SLO and an older sister, Jessie, who is a member of the San Jose State volleyball team.
