Women's Volleyball Inks One More for 2005-06
May 17, 2005 Winston-Salem, N.C. - Wake Forest women's volleyball coach Valorie Baker announced the addition of Mary-Margaret Langdon, a 5-5 defensive specialist from Tallahassee, Fla., to the 2005-06 freshman class. Joining Shannon Homan and Ashley Homitz, the Demon Deacon class of 2009 is one of the strongest in the program's history. "Arguably one of the most outstanding recruiting classes in the history of the program, our incoming class will be tremendous assets to our team," Baker said. "We signed two women early and now with the addition of Mary-Margaret, we are very excited about the future of our team. Shannan, Ashley and Mary-Margaret are all wonderful players that we feel privileged to join our Wake Forest family." Langdon, who played for Lincon High School in Tallahassee, Fla., was a three year captain and was honored as the most valuable player of the varsity team her senior year. Named to the first team All Big Bend in 2004, Langdon was also recognized with second team All-State honors. A Wendy's High School Heisman nominee in 2004, she led the team in aces in 2005 and was also presented with the team's Trojan Award for leadership. Not only excelling on the court, Langdon also stands out in the classroom. A member of the National Honor Society, she attended the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine and was awarded with the USAA National Science Award. Langdon will be joined by Homan, a middle blocker and right side hitter from Yorba Linda, Calif. and Homitz, a 6-1 middle blocker out of The Bolles School.
