Wolfpack Picks New Assistant Volleyball Coach
April 22, 1999 RALEIGH, N.C. - Li Xiao-Feng has been named the assistant volleyball coach at NC State. The 47 year old Xiao-Feng brings an impressive coaching resume to the Wolfpack. Most notably, he was head coach of the Chinese National Womens Volleyball team from 1993-95. While there, Xiao-Feng led his teams to a FIVB Super Power Championship, a second place finish in the 1994 Asia Games and a 5-0 record against the United States National team. In addition, he was named the Top Coach of the Seventh Annual Asian Championships. "Li is a tremendous volleyball mind," remarked Head Coach Kim Hall. "We are truly blessed to have someone of his prestige here at NC State." Xiao-Feng will replace former NC State assistant Kreg Togami. Togami, who was the only assistant that Kim Hall had in her first five seasons at NC State, left to pursue other career options. "Well really miss Kreg and the enthusiasm that he brought our program," said Hall. "However, I do understand that he was ready for a change and Im looking forward to the excitement that Xiao-Feng will bring." Xiao-Feng will bring his guidance to a young NC State team. He
comes to a Wolfpack squad that has only one senior on the roster and
an impressive recruiting class entering the program. Last season, NC
State went 11-20 one the year.
