Virginia Volleyball To Host 'Hoo Spring Classic
April 19, 2006 CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The University of Virginia volleyball team will host four other schools in the 2006 `Hoo Spring Classic on Saturday (Apr. 22) at UVa's Memorial Gym. Each of the five teams in the tournament will play four matches. The tournament begins at 10:00 a.m. with the last matches of the day scheduled to begin at 3:45 p.m. In addition to Virginia, the other four teams competing in the tournament are Appalachian State, East Carolina, Virginia Commonwealth, and Virginia Tech. Each match is the best of three games using rally scoring. Games one and two will be to 30 points and deciding third games will be to 15 points. Matches will be played on two courts simultaneously throughout the tournament. Virginia opens the tournament with a 10:00 a.m. match against Appalachian State and then plays Virginia Tech at 11:15 a.m. In the afternoon, the Cavaliers play Virginia Commonwealth at 2:30 p.m. and close out the tournament with a 3:45 p.m. match against East Carolina. The Cavaliers finished the 2005 season with a 20-11 overall record and were fourth in the Atlantic Coast Conference with a 15-7 mark.
