March 7, 2003

After serving one season as a volunteer assistant coach at Duke, Jeni Gentry has been promoted to assistant volleyball coach, Blue Devil head coach Jolene Nagel announced on Friday.

"We are delighted to have Jeni Gentry part of our program," Nagel said. "Her love of the sport, commitment and knowledge of our team make her the perfect fit for Duke Volleyball at this time. She brings quality playing and coaching experiences to our staff."

Before coming to Duke last summer, Gentry spent the 2001 season as head coach at Peace College. She was a volunteer assistant coach at East Carolina in 2000-01 and earned a master's degree in Exercise and Sport Science from ECU in 2000.

A four-year letterwinner at Marquette University, Gentry set a Conference USA record for most aces in a season and in a match as a sophomore in 1996. She graduated from Marquette with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology in 1999.
