NC State Women's Volleyball Welcomes New Faces
Feb. 2, 2000
RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State's head volleyball coach, Kim Hall, announced on Wednesday that her volleyball program would have two newcomers next season. Crystal Shannon (Odessa, Fla.) and Andrea Duke (Saluda, N.C.) have each decided to join the Wolfpack in 2000.
Shannon, who signed a letter of intent to join the Wolfpack on Wednesday, is a 5'10" setter who led her team to three-straight state championships from 1997-99. During her senior campaign, she was named captain of the Berkeley Preparatory School's team while garnering first team all state, all county and all Suncoast honors. The multi-talented Shannon was a member of Berkeley's cheerleading and dance squads the past three years.
Duke is a scholar athlete who attended Faith Christian School. She received varsity letters all four seasons on the volleyball team and also claimed letters for basketball, softball and track. A fifth runner-up in the 2000 Miss N.C. Teen USA pageant, Duke was also an active member of Club South's volleyball program.
Hall is excited to have both of these individuals coming to NC State next fall. "Both Crystal and Andi will be important members of our team next season. I look forward to the athleticism that each of these ladies will bring to our program and I now think that NC State is ready to be a main contributor in the Atlantic Coast Conference!"
