Feb. 2, 2000 TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida State volleyball Head Coach Dr. Cecile Reynaud has announced the signing of Jennifer Anderson, a setter from Minier, Illinois, to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Lady Seminoles next fall. The 5'9" Anderson was a four-year volleyball letterwinner at Olympia High School in Stanford, Ill., who was recently selected to All-Stater Sports Magazine's Class of 2000 Volleyball Super 75 after a stellar prep career. Pegged a 1997 Junior National All-American, Anderson went on to captain her Olympia squad in 1998 and 1999. She was chosen the Most Valuable Player at Olympia High as a senior after receiving the school's Leadership, Serving and Offensive Awards in 1998. A two-time All-Cornbelt Conference first team selection, Anderson also garnered first team Pantagraph all-area and Champaign News-Gazette all-state honors in 1998 and 1999 and was a member of the first team Peoria Journal Star all-area team in her final season. Anderson also captained her club team, the Illinois Juniors Volleyball Club, for four years. An outstanding student, Anderson is valedictorian of her class and is the recipient of the Principal's Leadership Award. A member of the National Honor Society, she is active with the Student Council, Spanish Club, Bank Board, Torch staff (high school newspaper) and CAPTAINS, a drug-free organization. "Jen is going to be fun to have on the team," Reynaud said. "She is a great competitor in the gym, whether she is playing volleyball or training physically, and in the classroom. Her high level of motivation to be successful will be contagious throughout our team." Anderson, who also considered Illinois State, Purdue, Marquette and Drake, plans to major in secondary education at Florida State.
