![]() Seminoles Advance to Title Match of the 2002 ACC Volleyball Championship

Atlanta, Ga. - No. 4 seeded Florida State will play in its second consecutive ACC Volleyball Championship match after defeating defending ACC Champions North Carolina, 3-0 (30-23, 30-25, 30-23) in the semifinals of the 2002 ACC Volleyball Championship in O'Keefe Gymnasium.
The Seminoles (21-11) advance to play the winner of the No. 2 Georgia Tech/No. 3 Duke match Sunday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. North Carolina drops to 29-3 with the loss.
"The win today was a huge win for this program. It was a total team effort, said Florida State head coach Todd Kress. Everyone came out and executed our game plan. This is as focused as our team has been this year."
Florida State jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in game one, a lead it would maintain throughout the remainder of the game winning 30-23. The Seminoles hit .311 in the game and were led by outside hitter Erica Bunch, who hit .467 with a game-high eight kills. North Carolina's Molly Pyles recorded five kills and no hitting errors for a .714 hitting percentage in the first game.
The Seminoles took the second game 30-25 from 12th-ranked North Carolina on the strong play of outside hitters Kristin Frye and Bunch, who combined for 13 of Florida State's 18 kills. Frye notched seven kills, four digs and two block assists, while Bunch recorded six kills and one block assist.
Florida State swept North Carolina with its 30-23 win in the third game. The Seminoles hit .338, led by Bunch, who had a match-high 21 kills and Frye who posted 13 kills and 13 digs. Coming off a new ACC Championship Single Match Assists record (87) in Florida State's quarterfinal match versus Clemson, Jennifer Anderson had a match-high 51 assists.
2002 ACC Player of the Year Laura Greene led North Carolina with 17 kills, while Molly Pyles chipped in nine kills and 12 digs for the Tar Heels.
