ACC Champions!
That ACC Volleyball Champions banner hanging in the rafters at Tully Gym is going to have to be updated.

That's because the No. 15 Florida State volleyball team swept Maryland Sunday afternoon (25-22, 25-23, 25,9) to officially become 2009 outright champions of the Atlantic Coast Conference - an achievement that is a first for a program that's only other conference title occurred in the 1998 ACC Tournament.

That year, the Seminoles finished fifth in the league and got hot at the end of the year. Fast forward 11 seasons later and this FSU (27-2, 18-1 ACC) team has been hot from the start and steamrolled the conference competition to claim the outright crown.

Miami Volleyball Powers Past Boston College, 3-0
The University of Miami volleyball team used three players in double digits for kills en route to a 3-0 victory (25-13, 25-22, 25-14) over visiting Boston College in ACC action inside the James L. Knight Sports Complex on Sunday in Coral Gables, Fla.

Prior to the start of Sunday's match, Miami (18-11, 11-8 ACC) honored four senior student-athletes for "Senior Appreciation Day", paying tribute to players Maria Andersson, Cassie Loessberg, Genny Mayhew and Griffin Udelson. Miami head coach Nicole Lantagne Welch also presented Boston College senior Taylor Williams with a set of flowers, honoring the Long Beach, Calif. native.

When the match started, however, it was the play of three sophomores that sparked Miami past a resilient Boston College (12-18, 2-17 ACC) squad.
