November 6, 1998

ATLANTA - Despite 15 kills from Maja Pachale and Sara McKee, the Georgia Tech volleyball team (20-10, 8-5) fell to Virginia (22-5, 9-3) in five games, 15-2, 9-15, 13-15, 15-12, 11-15.

The Jackets jumped out to an amazing start as they claimed game one of the match 15-2. Georgia Tech hit a season-high .630 in that game as Pachale and McKee each had 5 kills in that game.

Game two would be a different story as the Cavaliers got right back into the match with key kills from Jessica Parsons and strong serving from Katie Jones. Virginia jumped out to an 8-3 lead and never looked back as they went on to claim the game, 15-9.

In game three, Virginia built an early 7-1 lead, but the Jackets battled back to tie the game at 10-10 with three kills from Carla Gartner and strong serves from Aimee Boulet. However, the Cavaliers fought back and went on to capture the game, 15-13.

Tech fell behind in game four 4-1, but managed to push the match to the fifth game with key kills from McKee and Pachale.

The rally fifth game was close throughout as neither team took more than a two point lead. However, Virginia proved to be too tough as Parsons and Claire Folga would each contribute three kills to lead the Cavaliers to a 15-11 win.

The Yellow Jackets will conclude their home season tomorrow night, facing the University of Maryland at 7:30 p.m.
