Clemson 3, Virginia Tech 1

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Clemson volleyball head coach Jolene Jordan Hoover recorded her 400th career coaching victory on Saturday night, as the #24 Tigers defeated Virginia Tech by a 3-1 margin (30-17, 31-29, 30-32, 30-27) in Blacksburg, VA. Her 2007 squad now owns a 22-3 overall record with a 15-1 mark in ACC action.

"There have been so many special wins over the years and they include so many players and assistant coaches," said Hoover. "I just look at it as another victory for the program."

Clemson erased a 16-8 deficit in the fourth game and rallied for the final three points of the frame to post the victory.

"We had a great comeback in the fourth game," Hoover said. "We really needed this win after last night's loss, and I am proud of how hard we battled."


Duke 3, Florida State 2

DURHAM, N.C. - Carrie DeMange knocked down 22 kills and Ali Hausfeld served up 59 assists to lead the 14th-ranked Duke volleyball team to a narrow 3-2 (30-24, 25-30, 30-27, 28-30, 16-14) victory over Florida State Saturday evening in Cameron Indoor Stadium.

The senior duo of Hausfeld and DeMange came through when it mattered, combining for nine points in Duke's match-clinching game five victory. DeMange hammered six kills in the final frame, while Hausfeld contributed two blocks, including one solo stop, nine assists and a kill. Hausfeld finished with a team-high eight blocks and picked up 12 digs for a double-double. The senior setter also contributed seven kills on 15 errorless attacks for a match-high .467 hitting percentage.

Rachael Moss joined DeMange and Hausfeld with a double-double, totaling 16 kills and 156 digs. Junior Jourdan Norman also reached double figures and posted a .429 hitting percentage. Senior libero Jenny Shull led the squad with 19 digs and 43 service receptions, while Sue Carls contributed eight kills and a career-high six digs.


Miami 3, Wake Forest 0

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.- Genny Mayhew set a University of Miami record with 25 kills in a three-game match and Bridget Bomhack finished with eight kills, eight assists and a team-high 15 digs as the UM volleyball team defeated Wake Forest, 3-0, Saturday night in Atlantic Coast Conference action at Reynolds Gymnasium.

Mayhew, who was one kill shy of her career-best mark set earlier this season at Virginia Tech, hit .632 on the night, the best single-match percentage for a UM player this season. Committing just one error on 38 attempts, Mayhew broke Valeria Tipiana's mark of 22 kills in a three-game match set Sept. 24, 2004 against Florida State.

Miami improves its record to 11-14 overall and 5-11 in ACC play while Wake Forest drops to 7-18 on the year and 4-12 in the league.
