Florida State Sweeps Virginia Tech, 3-0 BLACKSBURG, Va. - In the first road trip in two weeks and against a team tied for first in the conference, Florida State volleyball defeated Virginia Tech, 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-23), at Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg, Va. The victory evened the Seminoles' ACC record to 5-5 and 13-7 overall. FSU upped its series record against the Hokies to 20-2. "I thought overall we played consistent, which is good," Seminole head coach Chris Poole said. "I really think a big difference is that we've now gone two weeks with everyone back in practice. We looked smooth and more in sync. I think a lot of it has to do with us being able to play a couple weeks at home and get our feet back under us."

The win bumps the Cavaliers to 13-9 on the season and an even 5-5 in Atlantic Coast Conference play, while the Hurricanes fall to 19-3 overall, 7-3 in the league. “It was a great win tonight,” head coach Lee Maes said. “I think it gives our team a lot of confidence to know that we are as competitive as anyone in the conference. When we put our mind to it, we have the ability to sustain a level of focus, discipline and effort to make good things happen. We were very patient in maintaining our game plan tonight and we really took advantage of the opportunities that Miami gave us.”
