Tech Volleyball Takes Home Georgia Invitational Title with 3-1 Win Over Furman ATHENS, Ga. - Brittany Roderick pounded out 15 kills and Asia Stawicka notched nine block assists to lift Georgia Tech to a 3-1 (23-25, 25-17-25-17, 25-17) victory over Furman, helping the Yellow Jackets win the title of the 2008 Georgia Bulldog Invitational with a 3-0 record on opening weekend. "This is a good start for our season," said Georgia Tech head coach Bond Shymansky. "We know that every weekend after this will continue to get tougher, but it's a big confidence boost for our younger players [to win the title] and a reminder for the veterans that it takes supreme focus and work ethic on the road to earn victories." Yellow Jackets Sweep Georgia State, 3-0, at Georgia Invitational ATHENS, Ga. - Bailey Hunter powered Georgia Tech's offense by hitting .370 with 13 kills, and Michelle Kandell anchored the back row defense with 19 digs as the Yellow Jackets swept Georgia State, 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-18), Sunday morning at Ramsey Center on the University of Georgia's campus. With the win, Tech improved to 2-0 on the season while the Panthers dropped to 0-2. Tech will close out play in the Georgia Bulldog Invitational this afternoon when it faces Furman at 4:30 p.m. The undefeated Paladins face host Georgia at 12:30 p.m. before squaring off with the Yellow Jackets.
