![]() Six Tar Heel Tennis Players Make Regional Rankings List
Dec. 4, 2003 SKILLMAN, N.J. - Six players from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill women's tennis team made the Fall Regional Rankings list in either singles and/or doubles. The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released the rankings for the eight regions on Thursday. Junior Aniela Mojzis was ranked No. 10 in the Southeast Region where UNC falls. Mojzis was No. 31 in the ITA preseason national rankings, and she finished this fall with a 6-3 record. Mojzis, along with junior Kendall Cline, received the No. 8 spot in the doubles list for the Southeast. The pair was No. 4 in the ITA preseason national ranking. They went 5-3 this fall with a flight one win at the St. Mary's Fall Classic. Cline was also ranked No. 19 for the Southeast Region singles list with a fall record of 5-4. Freshman Caitlin Collins was ranked No. 11 in singles for the Southeast. Collins went 5-3 in the fall. Fellow freshman Sara Anundsen was right behind Collins and Mojzis at No. 12. Anundsen had a 7-1 record this fall, winning her first seven matches at UNC. Senior Lee Bairos was ranked No. 26 after a 5-4 record this fall. Bairos and freshman Jenna Long captured the No. 12 spot on the doubles list. They went 7-2 together this fall with a flight three win at the St. Mary's Fall Classic.
The ITA releases regional rankings after the fall and at the year-end. For the fall, it lists the top 30 players and top 15 doubles teams according to computerized rankings based on the average points-per-match formula in ITA sanctioned events.
