RALEIGH , N.C. - Coach Hans Olsen and the women's tennis program have announced their schedule for the upcoming 2004-2005 season. The Wolfpack will hit the road to face new Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) foes, Miami and Virginia Tech. On the home front, the Pack will host the Wolfpack Fall Invitational in October, as well as playing host for 14 more contests, including four conference opponents.

"We are looking forward to facing this challenging schedule next season," said Coach Olsen. "As soon as our team reassembles in August we plan on getting right to work in order to get as much practice in as possible. Last season we made some great strides towards improving our program, and I believe that next season we will continue to do so."

Next season, in addition to picking up two new team members, the women's tennis team will return four seniors and all but two members of this past season's squad. Rising seniors Kristin Lam, Taylor Parker, Danielle Stadelmann and Carmen Torres will all play leadership roles for the squad. In addition to the senior leadership, everyone on the team will add something to the mix.

When the season finally rolls around, the Pack will face an incredibly tough schedule. Last year, two ACC teams placed in the top-10 of the final rankings released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). In all, eight conference teams finished the season ranked within the top-75 programs in the nation. As if competition in the ACC wasn't tough enough already, the league will be ushering in two other programs with the addition of the University of Miami and Virginia Tech. Miami is coming off of an extremely successful season, in which they finished ranked 15th in the nation by the ITA and collected their final Big East Conference championship. One thing is for sure, the tennis team is not overlooking the new additions to the league.

"There is pressure no matter who you play," Danielle Stadelmann said. "With the ACC it's really tough though, because there really isn't a bad team in the conference. When you want to improve your record you really have to go out and play at your best nonstop. There aren't any walkovers in this league."

With such a challenging schedule, the Wolfpack will have a great opportunity to introduce the brand-new, 30,000 square foot J.W. Isenhour Tennis Complex.

"We can not say enough about this facility," said coach Olsen. "It shows how committed this university is towards establishing a top tennis program that can compete with the powerhouses of college tennis. We are trying our best to usher in a new era of women's tennis at NC State and we are making a great deal of progress. This incredible facility is only going to help us continue to grow by leaps and bounds."
