Three Yellow Jackets Tabbed to All-ACC Academic Women's Tennis Team
July 5, 2007 ATLANTA - Alison Silverio, Kristi Miller and Amanda McDowell have been named to the 2007 All-ACC Academic Women's Tennis Team, as announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference office this week. The Yellow Jacket trio was part of a 20-member academic squad that included six All-Americans, 10 all-ACC performers and eight repeat honorees from 2006. To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester while maintaining a 3.0 cumulative GPA during her academic career. Silverio graduated with a degree in business management in May and has plans to attend graduate school with the intention of earning her MBA. Miller, a junior, and McDowell, a freshman, both maintain perfect 4.0 grade point averages at Georgia Tech. Miller is a history, technology and society major while McDowell is studying economics and international affairs. The trio helped Georgia Tech to its third-consecutive Atlantic Coast Conference title in 2007, and, more importantly, the first national championship in the history of ACC Women's Tennis.
