With much excitement and pride, women's tennis head coach Hans Olsen has announced the brand new J.W. Isenhour Tennis Complex is nearing completion and is now available for Wolfpack tennis. Construction on the facility began in May of 2003, and the facility is located right off of Sullivan Dr., directly behind the original outdoor tennis courts. The complex is also located directly across the street from the newly renovated Doak Field, home of NC State baseball.

"We can not say enough about this facility," said coach Olsen. "It shows how committed this university is towards establishing a top tennis program that can compete with the powerhouses of college tennis. We are trying our best to usher in a new era of women's tennis at NC State and we are making a great deal of progress. This incredible facility is only going to help us continue to grow by leaps and bounds."

The indoor facility at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Complex encompasses 30,000 square feet and includes courtside men and women's locker rooms, brand new offices for assistant and head coaches, and a luxurious players lounge complete with plush couches and large-screen televisions. On-court grandstand seating and diffused lighting will also allow fans of Wolfpack tennis to experience the action in person as never before.

In addition to the new indoor facility, the outdoor courts have also been given a gracious face-lift. Not only have the courts been completely resurfaced, but a large grandstand will also be added to accommodate up to 1,000 spectators. New landscaping will also be added to make the facility more aesthetically pleasing.

The J.W. Isenhour Tennis Complex is named in honor of J.W. Isenhour, a former head coach of NC State men's tennis from 1968-81. Isenhour also led the women through three successful seasons. He brought NC State tennis from near obscurity into the limelight. Isenhour's men's teams compiled back-to-back Atlantic Coast Conference Championships in 1978 and 1979 and advanced in the NCAA Championships in 1978.

Women's tennis has a lot to be excited about for next season. In addition to the brand new facility, the team will include four seniors and all but two members of last season's roster. 2005 season play is slated to begin next January.
