Cohen Takes Home the 2007 NCAA Women's Singles National Title

Athens, G.A. - It was a sweet victory for University of Miami junior Audra Cohen, as she won the 2007 NCAA Singles Championship this evening at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex at the University of Georgia campus. It marks the first time in Miami Women's Tennis history that a player has ever won the national title.

Cohen wraps-up her successful season with 42-2 overall singles record with a 27-2 mark against ranked opponents. Top-seed Cohen took on fourth-seed Lindsey Nelson of Southern California. The first set saw both players battle it out, tying the game at three-all until Nelson stretched her lead to 5-3. Cohen rallied back to tie the game at 5-5, then nailed in two more games to claim the first set 7-5. Cohen was on fire in the next set, as she went up 5-0 until Nelson posted two games of her own. With the match-point at 5-2, Cohen went up 40-love, and nailed in the final game to capture the match victory.

Anundsen And Long Claim NCAA Doubles Title

ATHENS, Ga. --- North Carolina seniors Sara Anundsen and Jenna Long finished the most successful doubles run in school history with a national championship Monday, defeating William & Mary's Megan Moulton-Levy and Katarina Zoricic 1-6, 6-2, 6-2 to claim the NCAA title at Georgia's Dan Magill Tennis Complex. Anundsen and Long become the first Tar Heels ever to win an NCAA championship in tennis after knocking off the tournament's No. 1 overall seed.

Things got off to an ominous start for UNC, as the top-ranked duo of Moulton-Levy and Zoricic scored a dominant 6-1 win in the opening set. That loss was just the second dropped set of the tournament for the Tar Heels, and the first time they had failed to win the opener.

Miller Falls in NCAA Quarterfinals

Athens, Ga.--Georgia Tech's Kristi Miller fell to fourth-seeded Lindsey Nelson of Southern California in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Singles Championship, Saturday at Henry Field Stadium. Nelson won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.

Miller, the junior all-America who led Tech to the NCAA team title earlier this week, was the tournament's sixth seed. Tech's all-time leader in singles wins, Miller finishes the season with a record of 34-11. Her career slate stands at 117-29.
