DURHAM, N.C. - Duke University women's tennis head coach Jamie Ashworth and junior Kathy Sell both received ITA honors announced this week. Ashworth was selected Wilson/ITA East Region Coach of the Year, while Sell was received the TENNIS magazine/Arthur Ashe, Jr., Leadership and Sportsmanship Award for the East Region.

Ashworth was one of nine coaches selected in different regions across the United States. He guided the Blue Devils to a 23-6 overall record and Duke's 13th straight ACC Championship in 1999-2000. The Blue Devils advanced to the final 16 of the NCAA Tournament in Malibu, Calif. This marks the first time Ashworth has received this honor.

Sell paced the Blue Devils in her junior season with a 33-15 record. The native of Moorestown, N.J. reached the 100-win club this season and now has a 109-31 record in three years at Duke. This is the first time a Blue Devil women's tennis player has received this award and was one of nine finalists selected. Even though Duke is out of the NCAA team competition, Sell is not through as she will be competing in the NCAA singles competition starting on Monday, May 22.

The national winners will be released on May 21 at the NCAA Championships in Malibu, Calif.
