CARY, N.C. - Day two of the 2007 ACC Women's Tennis Championship wrapped up Friday night with no weather delays at Cary Tennis Park, as Clemson, Georgia Tech, Miami and North Carolina will now move on to the semifinal round on Saturday.

Three of the four matches were decided by 4-0, with the final match of the day ending with No. 4 seed Miami holding on for a thrilling 4-3 victory against a tough Seminole team.

ACC co-regular season champions Clemson and Georgia Tech wasted no time picking up victories as both shut out their opponents, 4-0, in quarterfinal action. The top-seeded Tigers handed No. 8 Virginia its walking papers, and the Yellow Jackets knocked out seventh-seeded Duke from the championship. North Carolina defeated No. 6 seed Wake Forest in the other 4-0 shutout victory of the day.

All three teams notched the doubles point and then carried the momentum into singles action, winning three of the six matches in straight sets for all but one.

Things heated up in the final match of the day between No. 4 seed Miami and No. 5 seed Florida State. The Hurricanes secured the doubles point after dropping a doubles match and pushed ahead for a 2-0 lead after Audra Cohen defeated FSU's Nicola Slater, 6-1, 6-2. The Seminoles fought back capturing the next three singles matches at Nos. 2, 4 and 5, but Miami's Audrey Banada would come through for the `Canes to tie the match 3-3.

The match came down to the No. 6 singles position, as Miami's Gina Sabatino held off a relentless Tapiwa Marobela from FSU for a 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 victory to clinch the match and a 4-3 win for the Hurricanes.

Clemson heads into the semifinals for the fifth straight year and faces Miami, which makes its third trip, at 10 a.m. on Saturday. The Hurricanes own an all-time 2-0 advantage against the Tigers in the ACC championship.

The Nos. 2 and 3 seeds, Georgia Tech and UNC, will square off in the second semifinal match at 1 p.m. The Yellow Jacket play in the semis for the third straight year, while it is the fifth trip for the Tar Heels since 2002.
