North Carolina's Tsang named ACC Women's Tennis Player of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C.– North Carolina senior Katrina Tsang has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week. Tsang won three pivotal matches at No. 2 singles to help the No. 2 Tar Heels defeat three fellow Top 20 ACC teams on the road and remain unbeaten in conference play heading into the final week of the regular season.
The 51st-ranked Tsang tallied from a set down to beat No. 62 Elizabeth Plotkin of Duke, 2-6, 6-2, 6-2, to help the Tar Heels to a 4-3 win last Wednesday that broke the seventh-ranked Blue Devils’ 29-match homecourt winning streak. The Raleigh, N.C., native then came back from down a set and 4-0 to beat No. 53 Keri Wong of Clemson, 2-6, 6-4, 6-2. Tsang’s victory again proved crucial as UNC scored a 4-3 win over the ninth-ranked Tigers.
Tsang wrapped up her week with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Viet Ha Ngo to help the Tar Heels to their first win over Georgia Tech since 2006.
North Carolina(21-3 overall, 9-0 ACC) is tied with Miamiatop the ACC standings. The Hurricanes and Tar Heels are scheduled to meet Saturday morning in the Chapel Hill, N.C., in the next-to-last match of the regular season for both teams. The ACC Championship is set April 22-25 at Cary (N.C.) Tennis Park.
