UNC Women's Tennis Team Hosts No. 2 Duke on Wednesday
March 23, 1999 CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The North Carolina women's tennis team will put its four-match winning streak on the line Wednesday afternoon when the 9-3 Tar Heels play host to the second-ranked Duke Blue Devils at 4 p.m. at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
Admission is free.
The match will be the Atlantic Coast Conference opener for Coach Roland Thornqvist's team and Duke will mark the highest ranked opponent the Tar Heels will have faced this season.
Carolina jumped 21 places in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association team rankings which were released on Tuesday morning. The Tar Heels now ranked 27th in the rankings after being ranked 48th in the March 9 rankings and 53rd in the post-fall season rankings.
