Duke's Cecil named ACC Women's Tennis Player of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Duke freshman Mallory Cecil has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week after leading the Blue Devils to victory over top-ranked and previously unbeaten Northwestern.

Cecil upset top-ranked Maria Mosolova in three sets at No. 1 singles., prevailing 7-6 (8-6), 6-7 (3-7), 7-5 in a hard-fought match. Cecil avenged her previous loss to Mosolova at the ITA National Indoor Championship. She is ranked 50th in the nation and is 9-1 overall and 7-1 at No. 1 since joining the squad in January. The Spartanburg, S.C., native sports a 2-1 mark against nationally-ranked foes

The sixth-ranked Blue Devils improved to 9-1 with the win over the Wildcats.
