GREENSBORO, N.C. - Florida State's Katie Rybakova has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week presented by Chevrolet for the period of Feb. 21-Feb. 27.
Rybakova, a senior from Coral Springs, Fla., was the top performing Seminole as No. 20 FSU scored a 5-2 upset win over No. 15 Georgia Tech on the road to earn its first ACC victory of the season.
Rybakova won every match in which she participated, including a 6-3, 7-5 win over nationally 105th-ranked opponent Viet Ha Ngo on court one. Rybakova also teamed up with sophomore Amy Sargeant, playing in her first tennis match of the 2010-11 season after recovering from hip surgery, to defeat Georgia Tech's tandem of Lynn Blau and Muriel Wacker by a score of 8-4.
Rybakova now ranks among the top 10 all-time singles and doubles winners in Florida State women's tennis history.
