Wake Forest's Duncan Named ACC Women's Tennis Player of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Wake Forest senior Kayla Duncan has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week.
Duncan earned the best singles win of her career, defeating USF’s No. 26 Ecaterina Vasenina 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (9) at No. 1 singles to help lead Wake Forest to a 6-1 win over the 39th-ranked Bulls – the Demon Deacons’ highest-ranked victory in two seasons. Duncan teamed with Kathryn Talbert in doubles to post an 8-4 win over Vasenina and Loreto Alonso Martinez at the No. 1 spot, helping the Deacs capture the doubles point. The 44th-ranked duo is a perfect 4-0 in doubles this season.
Duncan, who is ranked No. 81 nationally in singles, also won both her matches in Wake Forest’s loss to Minnesota, defeating Natallia Pintusava 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 singles and Tereza Brichakova and Alexa Palen in doubles. The Winston-Salem, N.C. native leads the Demon Deacons with 11 singles wins and 14 doubles wins this season.
