Duke's Amanda Johnson Falls In Quarterfinals At NCAA Singles Championship

ATHENS, GA.- Duke University senior Amanda Johnson's run at the 2004 NCAA Singles Championship came to an end on Wednesday and closes out a four-year career, which included a 117-35 record.
Eighth-ranked Johnson fell in a three-set match to 16th-ranked Aibika Kalsarieva of Kentucky, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 to end her run in the quarterfinals for the second straight year. Kalsarieva was able to get revenge from a 6-4, 6-3 loss to Johnson on Jan. 31 against the Wildcats.
A Bettendorf, Iowa product, Johnson concluded her career ranking tied for seventh on the Duke all-time wins list with 117 along with Karen Goldstein and Monica Mraz. Her 77.0 win percentage is tied for fifth on the career list, among four-year letterwinners at Duke.
With her stellar senior season, Johnson will leave Duke as only the second four-time All-America selection and for the second straight year she earned All-America accolades in doubles.
