ATHENS, Ga. - Senior Karin Coetzee defeated #39 Cynthya Goulet of Illinois, 3-6, 6-1, . 7-5, to move onto the second round of the 2005 NCAA Singles Championship, Monday afternoon at the University of Georgia's Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

Coetzee, currently ranked #33 by the ITA, will next move on to face the winner of the Shadisha Robinson/Anne Yelsey match that is being played later this afternoon. With today's win, Coetzee improves to 25-10 in 2004-05 and 97-48 over overall, making her just three victories shy of cracking the Demon Deacon top-10 for career singles victories.

Also participating in the NCAA doubles championship, Coetzee will pair up with redshirt freshman Alex Hirsch against Ana Cetnik and Story Tweedie-Yates of TCU tomorrow at 3 p.m.

In other NCAA singles action, sophomore Ashlee Davis fell to #31 Dianne Hollands, 6-1, 6-2. Davis, who played the majority of the season in the No. 2 singles position, closes her season with a 19-16 overall record.
