MALIBU, Calif. - Florida State sophomore Alida Gallovits became just the fourth women's tennis player in Lady Seminoles history to compete in the NCAA Singles Tournament. Gallovits entered the tournament as the 48th-ranked player in the country by the ITA and had to face the 21st-ranked player, Wake Forest's Bea Bielik. Bielik won the match 6-0, 6-0 and advanced to the second round.

The loss to Bielik ended Gallovits second season at FSU, but it was a season that saw Gallovits help lead the Lady Seminoles to their first-ever NCAA Tournament team win and the sixth-winningest season in the program's history. Gallovits was also named All-ACC for the second straight year as she continued to defeat some of the nation's best at both the No. 1 singles and doubles positions. Gallovits 2000 dual match season included three wins over ranked opponents and her and partner Nanette Duxin continued to excel in doubles with their second consecutive double-digit win season.

The FSU women's tennis team will lose two key seniors from this year's squad but with talented recruits joining the program in the fall, a sixth consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament is in reach for the top 25 team. As for Gallovits, her junior year will mark a chance to become just the second Lady Seminole ever to be selected to play in two consecutive NCAA singles tournaments.
