MALIBU, Calif. --The Wake Forest women's tennis team advanced in both the singles and doubles competitions in the NCAA Individual Championships at Pepperdine University on Tuesday.

Freshman Bea Bielik advanced to the round of 16 by defeating Kim Niggemeyer of Fresno State 6-2, 6-0. She advances to play Aarthi Venkatesan of Georgia, who defeated Celeste Frey of Ole Miss 7-6, 3-6, 6-3. Bielik and Venkatesan will play at 1 p.m. eastern time on Wednesday.

In doubles action, Bielik and teammate Janet Bergman advanced to the third round by defeating Karoline Borgerson and Anita Kurimay of California 6-4, 2-6, 6-2. Bielik and Bergman advance to play Marissa Catlin and Lori Grey of Georgia. The Georgia duo defeated a team from LSU 7-5, 6-2 on Tuesday. The teams from Wake Forest and Georgia will play at 7 p.m. eastern time on Wednesday.
