MALIBU, CA--Three singles players and one doubles duo from the Wake Forest women's tennis team competed in the first round of the NCAA Individual Championships at Pepperdine University on Monday.

In singles action, freshman Bea Bielik defeated Alida Gollovits of Florida State 6-0, 6-0 to advance to the second round where she will face Kim Niggemeyer of Fresno State at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fellow freshman Adria Engel was defeated in the first round by Stephanie Hazlett of Florida 6-4, 6-2. Sophomore Janet Bergman fell in first round action to Mira Radu of Mississippi 6-3, 7-5.

In the doubles competition, Bielik and Bergman took on Lindsay Blau and Michelle Gough of Arizona. Bielik and Bergman came out on top 6-2, 7-5. The duo advances to take on Bruna Colosio and Ana Paula Mores of LSU on Tuesday.
