Duke's Sell Advances In NCAA Women's Singles Competition

MALIBU, CALIF. - Junior Kathy Sell (Moorestown, N.J.) advanced to the second round of the NCAA singles competition on Monday with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory over No. 32 ranked Keiko Tokuda of Stanford. Sell, ranked 37th nationally, will now go up against No. 10 Esther Knox of Georgia on Tuesday. Knox defeated No. 95 Eline Chiew 6-3, 6-4 to advance. No. 12 Megan Miller (Palm City, Fla.) lost her first round match to No. 47 Annica Cooper of UCLA 5-7, 4-6 and finishes the season with a 24-15 record. Duke's doubles duo of Biro (Boca Raton, Fla.) and Siebel (Ross, Calif.)
have the task of going up against the No. 4 Stanford team of Teryn
Ashley and Marissa Irvin, which is seeded No. 1. The match began at
9:00 PM EST.
