Tech Women's Tennis Tops Wolfpack in ACC Tournament
April 22, 1999 ATLANTA - Georgia Tech's No. 1 doubles tandem of Sabrina Pardo and Mason Miller defeated the NC State tandem of Marissa and Katrina Gildemeister to clinch the eighth-seeded Yellow Jackets 6-2 victory over the ninth-seeded Wolfpack, Thursday, in the first round of the 1999 Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Tennis Championships at the Racquet Club of the South. Pardo and Miller won 8-2 to move Georgia Tech (12-9) into Friday's first round where the Yellow Jackets will face top-seeded Duke at 3 p.m. The loss eliminated the Wolfpack (10-12) from the tournament. Georgia Tech won four of the six singles matches prior to doubles play. The Yellow Jackets led 4-1 before NC State's Nena Bonacic forced doubles play with a 6-3, 5-7, 7-6, win over Pardo at No. 1 singles. Pardo then rallied with Miller to clinch the match for the Jackets at No. 1 doubles. Tech's Bobbi Guthrie and Tamarra Jenkin then concluded play with a win at No. 2.
