April 12, 2008 No. 19 Florida State Cruises Past Wake Forest, 6-1 WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - No. 19 Florida State (15-5, 6-4) kicked off its last weekend of women's tennis regular season play with a 6-1 stomping of No. 32 Wake Forest (8-10, 4-6). Senior Carolin Walter roared back after losing her first set to give FSU the team win and move her season record to 17-3. "The girls did a great job taking care of business today," said head coach Jennifer Hyde. "We have a day off tomorrow so we can get in some rest. After that we're excited to close out our regular season ACC schedule against NC State on Sunday." Walter defeated the Demon Deacons' Emilee Malvehy 1-6, 6-1, 6-2 on court three to give the Seminoles their fourth point of the match including Wake Forest's two forfeits in doubles and singles. Prior to Walter's match-clenching win, freshman Katie Rybakova and sophomore Lauren Macfarlane picked up a pair of wins at the top of the order to put the Seminoles in a position to win the team match. No. 30 Rybakova defeated Sasha Kulikova 6-3, 6-2 on the spotlight court to extend her winning streak to five matches while No. 72 Macfarlane upended Christian Tara 6-2, 6-2 on court two.
