March 29, 2008 No. 3 Yellow Jackets Sweep NC State, 7-0 ATLANTA - Georgia Tech (12-5, 4-1 ACC) swept all six singles matches after winning all three doubles matches to record a 7-0 win over NC State (10-6, 3-3 ACC) Saturday afternoon at the Bill Moore Tennis Center. The Yellow Jacket doubles tandem of Kirsten Flower and Amanda McDowell downed Catherine Grotz and Kristen Bleakley, 8-0 at the No. 3 spot and Whitney McCray teamed with Noelle Hickey to defeat Julia Roach and Lenka Hojckova, 8-0, to give the Yellow Jackets the doubles point. Kristi Miller and Sasha Krupina then finished off the sweep of doubles with an 8-4 win at the top position. Miller pushed the score to 2-0 with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Berkeley Brock atop the singles lineup and McDowell made the score 3-0 with a 6-3, 6-3 win against Daria Petrovic at No. 2 singles. McCray clinched match point for the Jackets with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at the No. 3 singles spot and Johansson gave Tech a 5-0 lead with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6. CLEMSON, S.C. - The 28th-ranked Clemson women's tennis team took a 1-0 lead into singles play for the 12th time this season and handed #30 Wake Forest its first conference loss of the season on Saturday afternoon at the Clemson Indoor Tennis Center. The Tigers (7-9, 3-3 ACC) bettered the Deacs (8-6, 4-1 ACC) by a 6-1 margin to win their fifth straight match in the series. Clemson will return to the court on Sunday against NC State. Play is scheduled to begin at 1:00 pm at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center. Ani Mijacika and Carol Salge partnered to post their fourth consecutive victory in doubles action. The Clemson duo defeated Sasha Kulikova and Sierra Poske, 8-3, at number one. Ina Hadziselimovic and Alexandra Luc then held off the Deac's team of Aileen Davis and Alexandra Hirsch, 8-5, at the third position to improve to 13-8 on the year.
