Tech Women's Tennis Rallies to Beat Buckeyes, 5-4
March 23, 1999 MIAMI - Junior Sabrina Pardo and freshman Mason Miller teamed to defeat the 14th-ranked doubles tandem of Kristy Dascoli and Briana Harris to complete 50th-ranked Georgia Tech's 5-4 comeback victory against No. 46 Ohio State in women's tennis action Monday. The Yellow Jackets (10-2) dropped four of the six singles matches to fall behind 4-2, but swept all three doubles matches to rally past the Buckeyes. "After getting down 4-2, the girls kept fighting," said Georgia Tech head coach Sue Hutchinson. "We got off to a good jump at No. 2 and 3 doubles, and No. 1 was even all the way through. We showed great effort, being able to fight back and win. This match will give us a lot of confidence." Tech's Tamarra Jenkin and Bobbi Guthrie downed Michelle Matko and Monica Rincon, 8-4, at No. 2 doubles, and Autumn Richards and Sybi Parker topped Claudia Castro and Laura Maloney, 8-4 at No. 3 to even the team score at 4-4. Pardo and Miller, playing for the first time this season at the No. 1 doubles position, sealed the win with their 8-6 victory. The win was the Yellow Jackets fifth against a ranked opponent this season. Tech next plays No. 26 Miami at 1 p.m. Thursday.
